On December 31, Czesław Michniewicz’s contract expires, which means that the Polish national team will be left without a coach. The president of the Polish Football Association – Cezary Kulesza is in the process of choosing a new coach who will lead the team in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers. PZPN receives a lot of offers from potential candidates, but the final decision rests with the head of the association.
Cezary Kulesza confirms. “A lot will be clear after the New Year”
In a short interview for Kulesza, he revealed that we will get information about the future coach in 2023. Currently, the former president of Jagiellonia Białystok is reviewing and analyzing CVs of coaches who want to take over the post after Michniewicz.
– When I review all the offers and compare them, I will answer your questions about the recruitment process. A lot will become clear after the New Year. Now it was the holiday season, we recently announced that we would not renew the contract with Czesław Michniewicz. – informed Cezary Kulesza.
I don’t have details to please you. Offers are certainly coming to the association, but the time will come for everything – added the president of PZPN.
Kulesza does not want a foreign coach? “To my knowledge, he is not convinced”
In addition to the interview with Cezary Kulesza, TVP Sport also published a statement from one of the members of the PZPN. An anonymous respondent stated that the president is not at all convinced that a foreigner should be appointed as the head coach of the national team.
– According to my knowledge, the president of Kulesza is not convinced to hire a trainer from abroad to replace Czesław Michniewicz. I’m not surprised at all, because the events of a year ago could have sufficiently discouraged such movements – admitted the interlocutor.
– There is no decision on the nationality of the future coach, but is it important? Nationality is not important, but coaching skills, successes, skilful approach to players. And also, albeit to a lesser extent, the name. President Kulesza will decide everything and ask him for details – revealed one of the members of the board of PZPN.
On March 24, the Polish national team will play the first match of the qualifiers for the European Championship 2024, which will be held in Germany. The rival of “White and Red” will be the Czech Republic.
