Thousands of fans cheered for the blue in the Place de la Concorde, this Monday in Paris, in a festive atmosphere, one day after their defeat in the World Cup final against Argentina in Doha.

The players and the France coach appeared on the balcony of the Hotel Crillon to greet the many fans who waved French flags and proclaimed their thanks to the blue. The expedition had arrived at Roissy airport about two hours earlier from Qatar.
Forward Olivier Giroud spoke from the emblematic Parisian square for the French chain TF1. “These moments must be enjoyed, savored, enjoyed. It’s just happiness despite everything. We will give each other a big hug and we will go on vacation, charge our batteries because there is a second part of the season to play”.
Marcus Thuram, also a striker, also spoke: “We knew before the game that millions of French would be watching us, unfortunately we couldn’t win but what is certain is that they are proud of us and that is the most important thing.”
“I had to be here, to thank Les Bleus for everything they have done so far,” confessed Sandrine Djellas, a 53-year-old fan, her face painted in the colors of the French flag.
“Meeting here with everyone, it’s my way of giving them strength,” said Cheick Touré, a 16-year-old student.
Descending from the plane, French coach Didier Deschamps smiled, as did Giroud, who wore a blue, white and red flower necklace around his neck. (D)
