“Yes, a huge joy. The truth is that I haven’t been feeling very well for weeks, not because of the results, but because of myself. So, to crown this beautiful tournament with such warmth and having such good players, the truth is that I am very excited”, said Bagnis, who despite adding his sixteenth title in Challengers celebrated it very emotionally.

The match was played under intense hot sun at an altitude of 2,500 meters and faced two effective servers. Today the Argentine hit 13 aces and the Brazilian 12. Throughout the tournament, Reis Da Silva hit 55 aces, Bagnis 45.

Thus the first set there were no service breaks and it was defined in a ‘tie break’, which was highly contested, with Facundo coming out on top 9-7.

Starting the second set, the Argentine managed to break serve, an advantage that took her until the tenth game in which she served for the match. A serve to the body of his rival and entering the net caused the Brazilian’s open backhand return, thus sealing the victory for Bagnis who knelt down and covered his face with his hands out of emotion.

“It’s like crowning the dessert with the strawberry. Really, getting back to the top 100 was an objective, we have to continue fulfilling some others in the three tournaments I have left and well, the statistics are good, they serve you in the sense that they feed confidence; so, we are going to continue for more”, highlighted the Rosario who enters the Top 10 of the greatest winners of Challengers in all time and this Monday he will appear top 100 again.

During the award ceremony Bagnis almost broke down in tears, he was so emotional.

“I dedicate this title to my entire family, to my work team in Argentina, they were there side by side when I needed them most. I needed that because if not, you can’t do it in such a difficult race, so obviously it’s for them.”

In turn, the Brazilian Joao Reis Da Silva had his best performance in a professional tournament, here in Ambato he was alone, without the company of his coach.

The champion obtained 80 ATP points and the finalist 58 points.
