Iker Casillas, former captain of the Spanish team, was in charge of introducing the World Cup trophy on the grass of the Lusail stadium, where Argentina and France will play the Qatar 2022 final this Sunday.

Casillas was in charge of raising the cup to the sky in Johannesburg at Soccer City after the victory of the Spanish team against the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Hugo Lloris took over from him in Russia 2018 after France’s victory over Croatia (4-2) at Luzhniki in Moscow, and in Lusail he aspires to lift the cup again.
Thousands of fans caused chaos in the subway
Police temporarily closed one of Doha’s metro stations due to the influx of fans who had come to attend the World Cup soccer final between Argentina and France on Sunday, witnesses said.
According to them, the security forces were no longer in a position to contain the strong influx at the Msheireb station, a link that connects three metro lines in the Aatari capital.

Station staff tried to reduce the number of people entering the station with barriers, but groups of fans broke through creating a large influx of passengers inside the station whose doors were later closed, those witnesses added.
Several of them tried to get to the “fanzones” where the giant screens are located to watch the game that began at 3:00 p.m. GMT (10:00 a.m. from Ecuador).
According to an AFP journalist, the station was able to reopen its doors an hour later and, although the crowd was still large, passengers were able to board the trains.
No major problem was noted by AFP journalists at other stations, neither on trains nor in the vicinity of the Lusail stadium, with a capacity of 88,000 spectators where fans arrived calmly. (D)
