President of the Qatari club expressed his desire to retain the coach who is wanted by the Barça team.
The coach of the Al Sadd, Xavi Hernandez, admitted this Wednesday that he has “a lot of desire and a lot of illusion to go home ”, referring to his possible transfer to Barcelona, which is negotiating his incorporation in Doha with the Qatari club.
“Both clubs are in conversations. Both Rafa (Yuste, vice-president of Barcelona) and Mateu (Alemany, director of football of the Barça team) have come, and both one thing and the other have to be solved immediately ”, he declared at the end of the Qatari League match in the one that his team tied with Al Duhail (3-3).
Xavi admitted that he has spoken “many days” with Barça “and everything is ready” between him and the Catalan club, but he recalled that has a contract with Al Sadd.
“There is a small clause of rescission and, from there, it is to agree. Hopefully everything goes uncalibrated ”, summed up the former Barça player.
Qatari club wishes to retain him
The president of the Qatari club Al Sadd, Turki Al Ali, affirmed this Wednesday that his entity wants to continue with the coach Xavi Hernandez, coinciding with a visit to Doha by a delegation from FC Barcelona with the mission of reaching an agreement.
That delegation landed on Wednesday and in it are the sports vice president Rafa Yuste and the football director Mateu Alemany.
Ronald Koeman was dismissed on Wednesday of last week, after a loss to the Vallecano Ray, and since then the name of Xavi sounds insistently, despite the fact that in May he signed a contract renewal with Al Sadd until 2023.
“The position of the club is clear from the beginning: we want to keep our coach Xavi and we cannot deprive ourselves of it at this delicate moment of the season, “said Turki Al Ali, according to a tweet from the club, published when the Catalan delegation was attending a match between Al Sadd and Al Duhail.
The club, however, wished to welcome the Barcelona delegation, stating that they “value and respect” the visit.
For his part, Rafa Yuste described as “Very good” relations between both clubs and that the fact that President Joan Laporta did not travel has not bothered Qatar.
The managers of the two clubs planned a meeting at the end of Al Sadd’s game on the day, which will resume on Thursday if necessary. (D)
