Arshavin said that the disqualifications for the participants in the fight “Zenith” and “Spartak” deserved
Former football player of the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin assessed the behavior of the participants in the mass brawl between St. Petersburg Zenit and Moscow Spartak. His words are quoted by Metaratings.
Arshavin called the incident unpleasant for both teams. In his opinion, hard disqualifications are deserved, since the Russian Football Union (RFU) is not interested in fights. Arshavin remembered that, as a junior, he also participated in brawls.
On November 27, at the end of regular time of the Russian Cup match between Zenit and Spartak, with the score 0:0, a mass brawl broke out on the field. As a result, the judge removed six players: Alexander Sobolev, Shamar Nicholson and Alexander Selikhov left the field for the red-and-whites, Barrios, Malcolm and Rodrigao left the blue-white-blues. The RFU suspended the players for six matches.
The Moscow team took first place in the Group B standings with 13 points and went directly to the 1/16 finals. The Petersburgers are on the third line and will play in the playoffs with the clubs of the First League.
