Jose Mourinho is fondly remembered by Chelsea fans. He worked in this club in 2004-2007 and 2013-2015. During that time, he won the national championship three times with the team. He also added the same number of triumphs in the Carabao Cup (English League Cup).
John Terry shared an anecdote about how Jose Mourinho was able to outsmart the referees
Mourinho has so far been known, among other things, for his on-field cunning and defensive play. In his coaching career, he often liked to use obscure laws to his own advantage. John Terry told Bein Sports about one such situation.
“The rule was that when we were leading 1-0 and the ball went into our box, two of us had to go down. Then we didn’t have to leave the field, and time flew by. 10 minutes before the end of the game, Mourinho came up to me and Gary Cahill and said to make sure we fell together because then we won’t leave the pitch. We’ve never heard of this rule. When the ball hit our box, Gary fell to the ground and I thought I had to do the same now. The referee confessed that we both had to leave the field. I told him the rules said otherwise and to ask the linesman. After he did it, he agreed with me,” said the former English footballer who played for Chelsea for nearly 20 years.
“He was ahead of the rest when it came to such little-known rules. The best trainers know how to use the smallest things to their advantage. This is amazing,” he said.
