‘Break both legs’ and ‘worthless shit’ in messages to Australian tennis player
Priscilla Hun recently hosted an Australian SBS TV show about dealing with online hate. The tennis player argued that athletes are used to crude comments, but none of them should be on the agenda and such behavior cannot be treated as normal. The competitor decided to go a step further and published messages via Instagram that she gets every day about angry Internet users. Messages to Hun are mainly sent by people who lose money on bets that include her matches.
“How can you lose a game you already won, f*** Asian rat! Break both fat legs, f***,” reads one of the messages. The following read: “a disgrace to tennis”, “worthless shit” and “I pray that one day both of your legs will be amputated”.
The tennis player was followed by other sportswomen, including Australian Daria Saville (56th WTA), who gave her friend good advice: “I’m hooked on them. Turn off comments before each match played, and they will have this satisfaction.” Swimmer Shayna Jack wrote: “This is disgusting! You are so strong that you shared it.”
“It’s sad that humanity is falling to this level just because of a lost bet on a tennis match,” concluded Priscilla Hun.
So far, the biggest successes of 24-year-old Priscilla Hun are losing matches in the second rounds of Grand Slam tournaments: Roland Garros in 2019 and the Australian Open in 2020. During her career, Hun has not won a single WTA tournament, and her highest world ranking was 118th in October 2019.
