Euskaraz irakurri: Jon Uriarte: “Klubaren egoera ekonomikoa txarra da”

The president of athletic club, Jon Uriartehas warned that the economic “situation” of the club that the new Board of Directors will present at the Ordinary general meeting next October 26 “it’s bad” by “negative inertia“of recent years.

“In the last three seasons, without extraordinary income derived from the sale of players, there has been a reduction of equity and provision of about 110 million eurosa figure of around 37 million per season,” says Uriarte in one of the explanatory videos that the Basque club has released among its members.

“We have to correct this negative inertia, we have to balance income with expenses and make Athletic something sustainable”, adds the Bilbao businessman. “We have been analyzing this for years and must be corrected urgently as soon as possible,” he adds.

In that sense, he advances that, after winning the last elections last June, his team is not going “to enter the club like crazy.” “We don’t want to make any kind of revolution. First we want to learn from this and then make decisions,” he advances.

Uriarte frames the explanatory videos that the entity is publishing in the intention of “giving accounts” with “maximum transparency” by the government team that has not yet served four months at the head of the club.

In another of those videos, the general director of the entity, Jon Berasategiexplains that Athletic is currently “one of the most solvent clubs in LaLigaby far”, although its “trend” is “negative” and it needs “immediate and forceful actions” to alleviate a “very important imbalance between expenses and income”.

In a third video, the treasurer, William Ruiz Longarte, recalls that “the situation at the equity and balance level is healthy, although with some nuance”. “We have equity levels above 100 million and treasury around 90 million, but the passing of recent seasons has been eroding the club’s assets and treasury,” he summarizes. He recalls that within the accounts that he will present on the 26th there is a budget for the 2022-2023 season of about 142 million euroswhen revenues do not reach 108 million.
