Sir Alex Ferguson returns to Manchester United to work as adviser

Sir Alex Ferguson (80 years old) is back. After nine years of his retirement from the Manchester United bench, the legendary coach will return to the club as an advisor to all areas. A transversal position with which the Red Devils board has valued his extensive experience.

This has been reported by the English newspaper Daily Mail, which ensures that the club’s chief executive, Richard Arnold, has turned to Ferguson to work as an adviser. But he will not be the only emblematic member of the think-thank or laboratory of ideas that has given birth to United.

Among the new directors of the Red Devils will also be the former CEO David Gill, former captain Brian Robson and the current director of the football area, John Murtough. All of them will try to redirect the club’s strategy, which in recent years has suffered an identity crisis, in addition to the losing streak in sport.

It was precisely after Ferguson’s retirement that United began to decline, and since then they have not lifted the Premier League or the Champions League. Nine seasons marked by disappointments and which he was only able to sweeten the Europa League won under the direction of José Mourinho.

Present at the comeback

It is not strange, then, that last Monday Ferguson was photographed entering the sports city of Carrington on the day Cristiano returned to training with United, with his future still in doubt. In fact, the daily ACE was able to confirm that he had a meeting with all the members of the first team, including Cristiano himself, and that the atmosphere was very relaxed. (D)
