TV channel “Match TV” confirmed that it will not broadcast matches of the Premier League in the season 2022/2023
English Premier League (EPL) matches will not be broadcast in Russia. This decision was announced to Vedomosti by the general producer of Match TV, Alexander Tashchin.
“Due to the UK sanctions legislation, Match TV will not show the 2022/2023 championship,” he confirmed. Taschin added that the contract has not been terminated, so it is likely that broadcasts will be resumed in the future.
In July 2021, Match TV signed a six-year contract for the right to show Premier League matches. The deal was valued at £43 million. For the past three years, the Premier League has been broadcasting the Okko service.
The new season in the Premier League starts on August 6 and ends on May 28, 2023. Twenty clubs will fight for the title of national champion. The current winner of the tournament is Manchester City.
