Definitively canceled the Reggaeton Beach Festival of Tenerife

The reggaeton beach festival is cancelled definitely. This has been confirmed by the organization just a few hours before the event, in a statement in which it blames the City Council of San Miguel de Abona, the town in Tenerife where it was scheduled to be held this Saturday.

For the festival they had sold 20,000 ticketsmany of them acquired by people who traveled expressly to the island for the event, with a price of between 65 and 140 euros.

However, late on Friday, the organizers reported the cancellation through social networks: “The event scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled,” they pointed out, noting that “in the next few days” attendees will receive an email with the instructions for requesting the “full refund of tickets and top-ups on cashless wristbands”.

In addition, they have announced they will take legal action against the Administration. In this sense, the statement ensures that the organization met all the requirements and that it was not until 72 hours before when “surprisingly, without any prior notice and the time necessary to correct the possible deficiencies found, they closed the file alleging that documentation was missing , even if it had been provided previously”.

So they point to “Irregularities in the processing of the file” and that they tried to “start a new urgent file” to obtain the license within 24 hours. They also maintain that they should have obtained the permits “without any type of impediment” and accuse the Consistory of “animosity” towards the festival and acting in “bad faith” leaking technical reports with misinformation”.

The City hallfor its part, had announced on Thursday that it was disavowing the celebration of the Reggaeton Beach Festival “because the security measures and the documentation presented by the organization do not qualify necessary”.

From the promoter company, however, they affirm that at all times during the negotiation they were “absolutely convinced” that the situation was going to be resolved. “As of July 29, 2022 at 7:30 p.m., we still had not received the resolution of the file, so we have been forced to make the very difficult decision to cancel it, since a few hours after the event we have received an unfavorable response on the part of the mayor’s office”, exposed RBF nonetheless last night.

“We have never met an Administration that has made it so clear with its actions in recent days that not only did they not want to hold the event, but they have gone to do damage enormous to our community by allowing us to start the assembly of it for two weeks to definitively deny us its license less than a day before the event,” says the note, which concludes by warning that the producer reserves the right to exercise actions “both civil and criminal” for the damages caused.

Other festivals canceled

It is not the first time this summer that a reggaeton festival has been cancelled. It happened in Madrid with the Puro Reggaeton Festival, which the Community of Madrid also canceled due to lack of guarantees in security plans.

The Fan Fan Fest, scheduled for Saturday June 11 in Madrid, was not held either. The Ifema fairgrounds canceled the event a few hours after its celebration after detecting several irregularities that “put attendees in danger”.
