Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and recalled the “fundamental interests” of the peoples of the two countries. This is stated in the telegram, the text of which was published in the Kremlin’s Telegram channel.
“Today, the citizens of Russia and Belarus maintain and strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual assistance. Developing relations of strategic partnership and alliance, our countries together overcome serious trials and defend their interests on the world stage,” the message emphasizes.
At the same time, Putin is confident that by “joint efforts” the two countries will continue to “continue to build up constructive bilateral ties, improve the institutions of the Union State and promote integration processes in the Eurasian space.”
“This, of course, meets the fundamental interests of Russians and Belarusians,” the Russian president is convinced.
Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin also congratulated the citizens of Belarus on the national holiday.
He wished “the entire fraternal Belarusian people happiness and prosperity,” follows from a message on the Duma’s website.
