The hockey player, the goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ivan Fedotov, who was detained in St. Petersburg, was sent at night, presumably, to Severomorsk. This was stated to RIA Novosti by his lawyer Alexei Ponomarev.

“Ivan (Fedotov) was allegedly sent to Severomorsk at night. They took him out of the hospital at night, and there is no further information,” the lawyer said.

Last Friday it became known that the hockey player was detained in St. Petersburg by the military registration and enlistment office. At the same time, the source of the agency indicated that the goalkeeper faces up to two years in prison under Art. 328 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – for evading conscription for military service. Later, Fedotov became ill at the military registration and enlistment office, after which he was hospitalized.

Earlier, Match TV correspondent Anna Andronova reported the details of the detention of a hockey player in St. Petersburg. According to her, on the morning of July 1, she filmed a story with the participation of Fedotov in one of the sports arenas of the Northern capital. According to the plan, they were to continue filming in the park. But when they went out into the street, a crowd of people was waiting for them – two in masks and camouflage, the rest in civilian clothes.

One of those who met showed Fedotov his ID, they talked for a short time, after which the hockey player was put into a van, and the rest were told to take a taxi. Questions about the reason for Andronova’s detention were not answered.

According to Fontanka, the CSKA hockey goalkeeper spends the evening of July 1 in the military registration and enlistment office and is unlikely to leave it in the near future. As Aleksey Ponomarev, chairman of the military bar association, told the publication, Fedotov’s call for service is at odds with the law. The athlete is registered in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region, and accordingly, he must be drafted into the army there, while St. Petersburg does not have the authority to do so.

In addition, each candidate for military service must undergo a medical examination in his district, however, Fedotov was not summoned to the commission either from the Vsevolozhsk district or from the Moscow district, where his personal file is now located. In addition, the security forces, who met the hockey player at the exit from the arena, did not take him to take the tests necessary to determine the fitness category.

The Bar Association emphasized that Fedotov’s relatives have the right to file a lawsuit in court to suspend the decision of the draft board. According to Fontanka’s source, they did just that.

We add that Fedotov can be accused of evading the army – under article 328 of the Criminal Code “Evasion of military or alternative civilian service.” According to Fontanka, the hockey player allegedly recently announced his desire to leave CSKA and leave Russia.

Ivan Fedotov, who was born in Finnish Lappeenranta but lived in St. Petersburg for a long time, won the Gagarin Cup in the spring and then signed a contract with HC Flyers. In 2021, he was named the best goaltender in the KHL.
