On Sunday night, Ukraine fired on Kursk and Belgorod with Tochka-U missiles and Reis drones. This was announced today at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.

“Tonight, from three o’clock to three-thirty Moscow time, the Kyiv regime carried out a deliberate strike with Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster munitions and Tu-143 Reis drones on residential areas of Belgorod and Kursk, where there are no military facilities. This missile attack was purposefully planned and carried out against the civilian population of Russian cities,” the ministry spokesman emphasized.

According to him, Russian air defense systems (ADS) shot down “all three ballistic missiles launched” at Belgorod, but “as a result of the defeat of Ukrainian missiles, the fragments of one of them fell on a residential building in the city.”

Also, Konashenkov pointed out, Russian air defense systems destroyed two Tu-143 Reis Ukrainian jet unmanned aerial vehicles stuffed with explosives on approach to Kursk.

In the meantime, the representative of the Ministry of Defense noted, the Russian troops of the Center group, together with the Southern group of forces, have closed the “ring” around Lisichansk, and are currently fighting inside this city.

Over the past day, Russian air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian Su-25 attack aircraft and 10 drones.

In general, Konashenkov added, since the beginning of the special military operation (from February 24, 2022), 229 Ukrainian aircraft, 134 helicopters, 1,440 unmanned aerial vehicles, 353 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,893 tanks and other armored combat vehicles have been destroyed. , 704 multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, 3,78 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 3,979 units of special military vehicles.
