State of roads in Guayas this June 28

Although some progress was made on the first day of dialogue between the Government and the organizations that promote the strike, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) ratified last night that the protest measure is maintained this Tuesday until there are responses to the requests raised.

Yesterday’s topics focused on further reducing the price of fuel, since, according to Conaie, the decrease of 10 cents determined by President Guillermo Lasso would not be enough to lower the price of food products or supplies for agricultural production.

In addition, they propose to repeal decrees 95, which establishes the oil policy, and 151, which deals with mining exploitation.

This is how the road closures are in Quito due to the strike today, Tuesday, June 28

This Tuesday, the 16th day of protests in Ecuador, the roads of some provinces continue to be blocked. In Guayas, the Ecuadorian Traffic Commission (CTE) reported that two roads were closed in Naranjal and El Triunfo.

Despite the fact that most of the roads are open, 39 passenger transport cooperatives still maintain their frequencies suspended at the Guayaquil land terminal.

Police and CTE personnel have tried to clear the roads to normalize vehicular traffic. Yesterday, for example, community members from the Guachapeli compound were burning tires and blocking the road until the police arrived and through dialogue they managed to re-enable it.

This is the ECU911 report of the closed roads in Guayas for today, Tuesday, June 28, 2022:

  • El Triunfo, roundabout towards Huigra.
  • Km 28, road Naranjal-Machala.
