A video captured by an ECU911 security camera circulated on social networks showing the moment in which a dump truck placed earth and debris on a road, in the Railway Line sector, in the south of Quito, hindering circulation. Around there were burning tires and people watching.

According to the video, the incident occurred at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, on Leonidas Dubles and Línea Férrea streets. The vehicle, yellow in color and Volkswagen brand, had stamps of the Prefecture of Pichincha. The surveillance camera pointed to the license plates of the car, MBB6599.
The plates, however, do not belong to the Prefecture of Pichincha. This is evidenced by consulting the Internal Revenue Service (SRI); there it is indicated that the tipper offers a particular service.
Given the comments that arose around the images, the provincial government issued a statement in which it clarified that the vehicle does not correspond to the Prefecture’s fleet of vehicles.
In addition, it was reported that the prefect Paola Pabón issued three memorandums between June 9 and 15, in which “all personnel who do not authorize the circulation of heavy vehicles and/or machinery” of the entity during the days June 13, 14, 15 and 16. During this time, dump trucks, backhoes, skid steer loaders, among other machinery, remain parked in the camps.
“We reject the spread of false and malicious information through social networks, and we urge political actors and the media to contrast and verify the information before it is disseminated,” concludes the statement from the Pichincha Prefecture. (YO)
