Russian dentists say 90% of their equipment and materials are imported

The share of imported equipment and consumables in Russian dental clinics averages 90%, and for some positions – 100%. It is reported by “MK” with reference to representatives of the profession.

According to the publication, the cost of dental treatment has increased by about 30% since February due to sanctions, and some clinics and dental offices have doubled prices.

The Dental Association of Russia told the newspaper that the use of foreign materials is a prerequisite for some supplementary medical insurance (VHI) programs, and in some regions this requirement is also spelled out in the MHI.

Almost all equipment and materials for the industry are produced abroad – chairs, lamps, cars, implants, cement for fillings, etc. At the same time, dentists are already complaining about problems with logistics: in addition to the fact that there are difficulties with transportation, some of the necessary equipment ” got into dual-use customs codes,” industry experts say. This means that it can be used for military purposes and should be subject to sanctions.

Market participants note that after the imposition of sanctions, Russian manufacturers of medical equipment have become more active, but it will take time to completely replace imported ones.
