Major General of the FSB Yuri Sulin, who served as first deputy head of the capital construction department (UKS) of the special services, was sentenced to six years in prison. This was reported by Kommersant, adding that the defendant was deprived of the title and medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, second degree.

According to the source of the publication, the former general disrupted the construction of facilities of the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation on the Arctic coast, which were supposed to ensure the security of Russia’s northern borders, entrusted to him within the framework of the federal target program “State Border of the Russian Federation 2012-2020”. 685 million rubles were allocated for the work, the FSUE “Caucasian Military Construction Department” (VSO), affiliated with the FSB, became the general contractor for the construction.

According to the investigation, Sulin forced FSUE General Director Sergei Sovertokin to first terminate the contract with the builders of polar facilities, and then switch to the construction of apartment buildings for FSB officers in Crimea. As a result, houses in Sevastopol, Armyansk and Dzhankoy were built, and the Arctic program was disrupted, which was qualified by the investigation as a violation of the interests of the state.
