Pachakutik still has no candidates to replace Rafael Lucero’s block leadership

The change in the coordination of the Pachakutik caucus will take a few more days; therefore, legislator Rafael Lucero will continue to lead the bloc that also seeks the return of those assembly members who call themselves rebels.

Lucero stated that he called the bloc to a meeting for this April 25, at 4:00 p.m., to address the issues of the plenary session on Tuesday, and that the announcement made by the national leader Marlon Santi, about the change of head of bench, it must be a decision that is made internally. That if they change their caucus chief, he will welcome the decision, he said.

A fractioned Pachakutik will guide the election of a new bench chief to replace Rafael Lucero

The assemblyman from Chimborazo reiterated that he assumes his responsibility for what it meant to meet with former president Rafael Correa in Mexico, on April 3, where he spoke of a new legislative majority that could give way to the formation of the Truth Commission. But “we have been clear that the Truth Commission requires in-depth analysis, because it is not known how they want to do it, who is going to integrate it and finance it,” he said.

Lucero revealed that from Correismo it was suggested that any of the six rebel legislators could replace Guadalupe Llori as president of the legislature, but that Pachakutik does not agree with that proposal and also that this point must be agreed upon in Ecuador and not in Mexico. That his displacement and his stay in Mexico were covered with his own funds. That the former president proposed the formation of an alliance with the progressive sectors of the National Assembly, such as PK, UNES, ID and even with the PSC.

The national assemblyman for Pachakutik Salvador Quishpe commented that the change of block chief will coincide with the planning of the bench that the chiefs last one year, therefore, in these days he will complete his management period as coordinator and in addition to that he will join the fact of his meeting without consultation with former President Rafael Correa, which precipitates the need for a change.

He said that in these days the bloc will meet to materialize the change, but there are still no candidates and no proposals are known.

Quishpe stated that it is time to talk seriously and for this he proposes to set up a national dialogue, including the Executive, to find the balance points in social, economic, political and institutional matters. It would also be necessary to design the institutional model that is needed at this time and that, based on minimum agreements, the mechanisms to guide these policies be oriented, which can be through laws or popular consultation.

According to Quishpe, the political council of the movement resolved that the so-called rebel legislators return to the bloc, but it was also warned that the first recidivism will be sanctioned according to the facts and including the presidency of the Assembly. (I)
