One dead and one injured in two events registered in El Carmen, Manabí

One man died of a heart attack and another was injured with a bottle spike. Both incidents were recorded on Saturday the 30th.

El Carmen, MANABÍ

Víctor Medranda Cedeño, 65, went out to buy food in a store near his home, in the urban parish 4 de Diciembre, in El Carmen, on the morning of Saturday, October 30, but did not return home.

Gustavo Mendoza, president of the community and friend of the victim, commented that about 30 meters from his house he stopped walking, opened his mouth as if trying to breathe and after a few seconds fell to the ground.

When he collapsed, the food and a few pounds of balance that he had bought for the chickens he raised in his home were scattered on the road.

Rescuers from the Fire Department went to the neighborhood to give him first aid, but they found that Medranda had died. Apparently, according to the doctors, he would have had a heart attack.

It was 10:50 on Saturday, on Loyola Zambrano and Martín Carranza streets, when this event occurred.

Man injured in fight

Rubén Rodríguez, 31, was injured in his head by a bottle, in a fight registered in a pool hall in El Carmen, Manabí, on the afternoon of Saturday, October 30.

The police officers who came to the site indicated that when the discussion took place, one of those involved took out a bottle and hit Rodríguez to supposedly “end the lawsuit.”

The broken glass caused an open wound on the left side of Rodríguez’s face, so firefighters took him to El Carmen Basic Hospital. There, the man was treated and cured.

After the incident, the police went to the scene, but the author of the wound had already fled. (I)
