In several cemeteries in the country measures will be applied for these holidays

To avoid crowds, there were families who decided to anticipate visits to the cemeteries during this weekend. The largest flow, however, is expected this Monday and Tuesday.

Between Saturday and Sunday, in some cemeteries of the city there were already people who came to clean the vaults, dedicate serenades to their loved ones or place flowers.

During this holiday of the Day of the Dead and Cuenca festivities, the Guayaquil Charity Board will have extended hours in its two cemeteries.

The Guayaquil Patrimonial Cemetery will have its doors open on Monday 1st from 07:00 to 19:00. Meanwhile, on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3, from 07:30 to 18:30.

In that cemetery there will be two pitched Masses at Gate 1, a sector known as the Major Cross, at 10:00 and 12:00 on November 2.

Meanwhile, in the Metropolitan Pantheon, located on the Perimeter road, visitors will be allowed to enter from 07:00 to 19:00.

In that cemetery there will be several activities, such as the launching of balloons, placing messages on the so-called Tree of Life and the celebration of two masses in the San José del Panteón chapel, at 10:00 and 12:00 on the 2nd of November.

In the cemeteries of the provinces, adjustments have also been made to receive visitors on these days. In Esmeraldas, brigades from the Ministry of Health (MSP) disinfected and fumigated the cemeteries of that city.

Visitors must also comply with biosecurity measures for their entry, said the administrator, Teresa Quiñónez.

About twenty people from the group “Las Hormiguitas”, plus municipal agents and the National Police will control the interior and exterior of the cemetery.

Likewise for those attending the masses that will be held with various local priests.

The price of the flowers and arrangements that are offered on this date will be controlled with the Municipal Police Station and the Police Department.

The cemeteries of the Santa Elena peninsula, like the flower merchants, are ready for these days.

Ana Doilet, who has been working on the esplanade of the general cemetery of La Libertad for several years, said that she invested about $ 1,000 to stock up on products. In his small stall he has on offer bouquets of artificial and natural flowers with prices that vary from $ 1 to $ 10.

”I pray to God that there is sale. We have had a bad time and now we hope to get some money. Due to the pandemic we have lost a lot, “said the merchant who will attend from early hours.

In the same place, other food vendors are hoping to make a profit.

The general cemetery of La Libertad will be open on November 1 and 2 in an extended schedule, from 07:00 to 19:00. The income will be by av. Eleodoro Solórzano.

In the Salinas canton, the cemeteries administered by the Municipality will be enabled from 08:00 to 17:00. The schedule runs from October 30 to November 3.
