In a container loaded with pineapples, destined for Belgium, 45 black jute bags were found containing a total of 3,096 rectangular-shaped packages with about three tons of cocaine hydrochloride.

This was detailed this Sunday afternoon by the commander of Police Zone 8, Colonel Hólguer Cortez Carrión.

He stated that, in the early hours of Saturday morning, agents from the Ports and Airports Investigation Unit, the Regional Dog Training Center and the Special Mobile Anti-Narcotics Group, in one of the anti-drug controls carried out in one of the port terminals of Guayaquil, separated the container MNBU3456913 for a pre-shipment inspection.

They seize seven tons of drugs in the port of Guayaquil; Police investigate links with the two hanged on the Durán bridge

Cortez commented that, when carrying out the inspection, the anti-drug dog Jessy gave the alert and positive indication for substances subject to control, so the agents installed the Piñas operation and carried out a manual inspection: they found among the pallets loaded with export fruit the 45 bags of drugs, which were ready to be shipped on a merchant ship bound for the port of Antwerp, in Belgium.

The head of Antinarcotics, Lieutenant Colonel Darwin Sangoquiza, highlighted the investigative work carried out by agents in the last three days, which uncovered these shipments that add up to the seizure of nearly seven tons of cocaine hydrochloride, which were destined for the Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium.

He noted that this fact makes clear the fight against drug criminal organizations with various operations that take place in the area of the ports of Guayaquil and other parts of the country. (I)
