Video recorded alleged attempted femicide with a knife in a park in the north of Quito; a passerby intervened in the event

An attempted femicide It would have occurred this Friday, April 15, in the La Carolina park, in the north of Quito.

Philip Rodriguez, lawyer and university professor, posted on his Twitter account a video in which he told that a man stabbed a woman out of jealousy and attempted suicide.

the video lasts 45 seconds. In this you see a man in light pants and a dark shirt next to a tree. In his left hand he carries a knife. About 3 meters away, a woman is on the ground, crying and screaming: “help”. In the distance, the voices of several people are heard saying: “Come on, come on, get away from there.”

The man moves his hands and apparently places the knife at chest height. The guy pays no attention, returns, pounces on the woman -who is still on the ground- and apparently he stabbed her before her desperate cries, but immediately another man appears who carries a trunk in his hands and hit the guy in the head.

The camera zooms in and you see the guy on the ground, there is blood around. The third person who enters the scene places his left foot on the chest of the individual, the apparent aggressor, to prevent him from moving and the knife can be seen on his left side.

On her Twitter account, the Secretariat of Human Rightsindicated that he contacted the girl’s relatives to offer her attention.

“I don’t do this, but I need to make sure Prosecutor’s Office, so deficient in gender, react. I filmed and I will be a witness. Joel is the Venezuelan hero who saves her,” Rodríguez wrote.

The video recorded several comments from social network users. Some wrote that there self defense of a third party, others applauded the fact that the fact has been made public, since they argued that it is the only way to make visible the cruel realities of many women. (I)
