Jorge’s story is one of pure devotion to Holy Week. He is costalero and deaf: he hears thanks to a cochlear implant, but when he is under an image he has to take it off.
He is guided by instinct and by the vibrations he feels under the step and all with the help of his teammates. “Under the step I don’t hear anything, but I feel the vibration, the companions”point.
This young man from Seville has lived, since childhood, with that bilateral cochlear implant and he explains that he “reads lips” to keep up. The friction of the suit forces him to remove the implant, but it has never been an impediment to pursue his passion: “Since I was little I told my parents that I wanted to be a costalero.”
Almost a decade later, he does it in five different brotherhoods. “The minutes before I’m always very nervous and when I get under the step I’m going to enjoy myself with my teammates”, ensures.
“For me, being a costalero is passion, faith. Under the pass I don’t listen, but I listen from the heartGeorge assures.
