For contempt, causing division in the bloc and not supporting Guadalupe Llori as president of the National Assembly, the national coordination of the Pachakutik movement, this April 1, separated six legislators who were considered rebels from the caucus.
The list of those separated from the bench includes Mario Ruiz Jácome, Mireya Pazmiño, Darwin Pereira, Peter Calo, Patricia Sánchez and Fernando Cabascango, who are prohibited from any activity related to political and legislative organization in the name of Pachakutik.
In a statement signed by Marlon Santi, it is pointed out that the six assembly members did not abide by the resolutions of the highest authority of the Pachakutik movement structure, issued on March 7.
That the legislators continue to cause the division of the bloc, have not attended the caucus meetings, maintain personal agendas and have destabilizing objectives; and that “chaos has been preferred and matching political groups that have affected the interests of the people, contradicting the principles and mandates of the structures of the political organization.”
Santi maintains in the document that the National Political Council resolved to support under any circumstances the spaces legitimately achieved within the Legislative, including the presidency of the National Assembly; therefore, the aforementioned assembly members deliberately failed to comply with that resolution by going against the political organization.
That any agreement, decision or document signed by the six expelled assembly members will not be valid and will not be recognized by the Pachakutik movement. They also urge all political organizations to respect the structure of the caucus.
In addition, the coordinator of the Pachakutik movement warns that, if due to “political compromises and obscure agreements of personal interests, the president of the National Assembly is deposed or removed, the Pachakutik movement’s caucus will strengthen the third way together with the people who elected them, for which means that no assembly member of the movement will be able to occupy any position within the National Assembly”.
The six expelled legislators, in the last six weeks, act together with the UNES and PSC benches, who propose an evaluation to the members of the CAL.
In social networks, the legislator Mario Ruiz pointed out that, if for defending the pachamama from extractivism, the national and social heritage from privatization and the people of the bankers, the leadership of Pachakutik expels them, let the grassroots and the people be the ones judge them.
