Once again, the passage of light vehicles on the Babahoyo-Jujan road is restricted; drivers must take alternate routes

Babahoyo, THE RIVERS

Despite the strong sun that has been reported in recent hours over the province of Los Ríos, the level of the water that keeps several sections of the Babahoyo-Jujan road submerged has not dropped.

Given this, the provincial directorate of the Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE) decided on Monday morning to prohibit the passage of light vehicles. This Tuesday was still on the restricted route.

The section that is at the height of the Ecuavegetal sector began to present accumulation of water due to the rising of the rivers that cross Babahoyo.

The signs that are next to this important road, which connects Los Ríos with Guayas, have been presenting problems, so the actions carried out by the competent authorities are aimed at preventing more traffic accidents and thus take care of the integrity of the drivers traveling on this road.

They restrict the passage of light vehicles on two sections on the road to Babahoyo due to the flood

Jael Melo, director of the CTE in Los Ríos, indicated that once again they had to prevent the passage of light vehicles, because the water level increases with the passing of the hours.

Personnel from the transit entity are on site in order to guide drivers so that they take the alternate routes that are enabled for circulation.

He reported that those who travel from Babahoyo to Guayaquil and vice versa can take the alternative routes of Simón Bolívar-Pueblo Nuevo and enter through the Chilintomo crossing; while in the Babahoyo-Jujan direction they can go through the Baba-Samborondón-Guayaquil or Baba-Salitre-Guayaquil roads.

The official also said that at kilometer 51 of this highway there has been a sinkhole due to the humidity of the road, and that actions are being coordinated with the competent authorities to solve this problem as soon as possible.

“We recommend drivers to take the alternate routes. There are drivers who prefer to take risks and cross the floods that have appeared on this road. We must be aware that we expose our lives. The arranged restriction is made to avoid more traffic accidents”, said the provincial director of the CTE.

The Babahoyo-Montalvo road is enabled for the passage of all types of vehicles, reported the CTE. But he warned that, upon reaching the Montalvo canton, the passage is restricted for all vehicles due to the landslides registered during the early morning in the province of Bolívar due to the rising of some rivers. For this reason, they recommend taking the alternative route San Miguel-Balsampaba-La Ceiba, which is partially enabled. (I)
