Relations between Moscow and Washington are on the verge of breaking. This, according to “Interfax”, said Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“Yesterday, a note of protest was handed over to the US ambassador, in which it is noted that what is happening has put relations on the verge of breaking. There is nothing here beyond what was said there: that the question is in the line that the United States will choose, ”he answered the question of whether Russia plans to recall its ambassador from Washington.

According to Deputy Lavrov, in order to maintain relations with Russia, the United States must stop the threats against Moscow, as well as the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

“If at the same time they manage to have some positive impact on Kyiv, which I not only doubt, but I am sure that this will not happen, unfortunately, then in general there will be, I think, a certain prospect for normalizing relations,” he added. Ryabkov and said that “for now, we see a downward trend through the fault of the United States in relations with our country.”

Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the United States is interested in maintaining channels of communication with Russia. According to Price, “an open dialogue or the opportunity to be involved in it is key, especially in times of tension and conflict.” He also noted that the US administration “seeks to maintain a diplomatic presence in Russia and the possibility of a Russian presence in the US”, but “the question arises whether Moscow is interested in maintaining lines of communication.”
