The US authorities did not ask any companies to leave Russia, it was their own decision. About this, as reported by RIA Novosti, said the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki.
According to her, the White House did not address any specific companies and did not ask them to take steps to exit the Russian market. However, Psaki clarified, the US authorities welcomed those who made such a decision.
Earlier, Forbes estimated that international companies that partially or completely leave Russia amid the military operation in Ukraine and anti-Russian sanctions provide jobs for more than 200 thousand people. At the same time, according to the publication, the largest employer of the companies that announced their withdrawal is the McDonald’s fast food restaurant chain, which employs 62,000 people in Russia.
Earlier, hundreds of foreign firms, including manufacturers of well-known world brands, announced a temporary or complete “withdrawal” from the Russian market (cessation of production, suspension of investments or activities in the Russian Federation), in response to the events in Ukraine and the sanctions of Western countries against Russia.
