The US authorities are not going to send their troops to Ukraine, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a press briefing.
Thus, she commented on the issue of Poland’s proposal to send a NATO peacekeeping mission to Ukraine. Psaki stressed that the United States “will continue to work with Poland and other allies and partners in Europe” to provide support and assistance to Ukraine, as well as impose sanctions against the Russian Federation. At the same time, she recalled that the US administration “does not intend to send American troops to fight the Russian troops,” because “this is not in the interests of the American people or national security.”
In addition, Psaki said that the White House did not consider the possibility of organizing a visit by US President Joe Biden to Ukraine during his upcoming trip to Europe.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
