US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Poland on March 25. He plans to discuss the issue of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine, explained US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the text of her statement is published on the official website of the US Mission to the UN.
According to her, the United States is not going to send its troops, but does not exclude that another NATO country can do this. “I cannot predict what decisions will be made at the NATO conference and how NATO will react to Poland’s proposal to send peacekeepers to Ukraine,” the ambassador said.
“What I can say is that for now there will be no American troops in Ukraine. The President has made this clear. But other NATO countries may decide that they want to send troops to the territory of Ukraine,” Thomas-Greenfield added.
It is noted that Poland plans to raise the issue of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine during the NATO summit and the meeting in the European Council. However, it is planned that the peacekeepers will not enter into direct conflict with the Russian Federation, but will be deployed in settlements that were not affected by the war, “in order to send a clear signal that we do not agree with war crimes.”
