Two people who were drowning were rescued on the Cautivo beach in La Libertad canton. His hero, identified as Alfredo Chávez Lino, 40, did not have the same fate.
On the afternoon of this Sunday, March 20, 2022, bathers perceived the mishap and one of them, Chávez, entered the sea to rescue them. However, he was unable to get out of the water and his body disappeared for at least 20 minutes until he floated.

Several witnesses took him out of the water and in the sand, together with the local Fire Department personnel, he was given first aid and even placed oxygen. The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. However, at the health center they only confirmed his death.
The body is in the Santa Elena morgue for the corresponding autopsy.
Officials from the Municipality of La Libertad insisted that this beach is not suitable for bathers, as the signs and signaling at the entrance warn. (I)
