With almost fifteen days in office as mayor of Loja, Patricia Picoita continues in her process of restructuring the municipal administration, without total changes to date in the occupation of the departmental addresses of the institution.
Picoita took office after the death of Jorge Bailón and when he entered, he separated 6 advisers from the post that the former mayor had.
The new administration analyzes the continuity of officials and the possible incorporation of new elements with a technical profile, although the department heads remain.
The mayor of Loja, Jorge Bailón, who in February had taken a vacation due to a breakdown in his health, passed away
Rómulo Chávez, general coordinator of the Municipality of Loja, said that the mayor has not assumed this process of “erase and go again” from a radical point of view, but that it is necessary to understand that all authorities need to work with people they trust and who are willing to sacrifice and work for the city.
The institutional policies of the mayor have been clear, according to Chavez, in continuing with benefit projects for the community and urgent attention to sectors in need. To do this, they carry out a process of prioritizing works to advance in the short term.
On the other hand, one objective is the optimization of resources, starting from the line of advisers, with only one person in that function; In addition, it is planned to reduce the payroll of around 3,200 municipal officials to lower the wage bill and seek to meet the demands of the neighborhoods, although they recognize that it is a difficult matter because people are left unemployed, he assured.
The general coordinator of the Municipality of Loja reported that the mayor continues to meet with people she trusts and in the face of the departure of officials from the previous administration who resigned and left, there have already been changes such as in the Municipal Drinking Water and Sewerage Unit, Public Works, Education and Planning, which are the most important areas that require work, he added.
Regarding the other departmental directors, Chávez responded that they are working because they are personnel who have experience in the issues.

Chávez noted that the mayor reviews the profiles, because beyond that they look for people who want to work, are honorable and honest to sacrifice themselves for the city.
There is currently an investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office began after several advisers broke into the mayor’s office, minutes after Bailón’s death was known. They were denounced on social networks by Councilor Pablo Burneo. (I)
