Residents of the Urals and Siberia complain about sharply increased food prices. So, according to 74.RU, in Chelyabinsk in the supermarket “Lenta” a pack of sugar in 900 gr. rose to 100 rubles.

Residents of Ozersk also complained about the skyrocketing price of sugar. In social networks, people write that the price per kilogram is already more than 100 rubles, and for packages of 3 and 5 kilograms the price is 304.9 and 507.9 rubles, respectively. Citizens appealed to the governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Teksler with a request to take action against private traders.

“This is already super-impudence: sugar, cereals, and other products that are in abundance in our country have doubled in price,” citizens write. – An example is Ozersk, the Three Bogatyrs store.

The press service of the governor told the publication that they had responded to the message from the residents of Ozersk and passed the information to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk region.

“Large retail chains, such as Magnit, Auchan, Pyaterochka, have the ability to regulate prices using the so-called cross-subsidization, that is, to keep sugar prices at the expense of a slight increase in the price of other products. Therefore, today they can put sugar on the shelf at a price of 59–69 rubles per kilogram,” the Ministry of Agriculture commented to 74.RU.

At the same time, they added, other chains cannot afford it, since at the factories that produce sugar, the price is already 80-105 rubles per kilogram. The final cost of the product is also affected by the transport shoulder and packaging.

As the publication adds, the regional antimonopoly service began checking retail chains for unreasonable price increases. “There are no factories that produce sugar in the Chelyabinsk region, so verification activities are being carried out in companies that buy and package sugar,” commented Natalia Martynyuk, spokeswoman for the antimonopoly service.

The price of sugar also worries the inhabitants of Siberia, but they also complain about the sharp growth of vegetables. In the Kemerovo region, according to Vash Gorod, many residents are concerned about rising prices for cabbage. An anonymous Kemerovo resident shared a photo of a head of cabbage for 329 rubles on social networks. According to the publication, an expensive vegetable was seen in the Lenta hypermarket. Without the Lenta card, it costs 184.29 rubles per kilogram.

In the comments, Kemerovo residents share other photos of vegetable price tags. So, tomatoes are sold at 364 rubles per kilo, bell peppers – 440 rubles per kilo.

Earlier it was reported about a sharp rise in prices for a number of products in the Omsk region. According to Omskstat, the largest increase in prices for the week from March 4 to March 11 was shown by tomatoes – they went up by 19.5%. The price of sugar increased by 14.9%. By March 11, the cost of a kilogram of sugar reached an average of 71.7 rubles.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, reacting to a sharp rise in sugar prices, and in some regions its shortage, intends to check market participants to prevent delays in shipping sugar to retail outlets. The FAS pointed out “the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases and the creation of artificial shortages.”
