The rains that have been recorded for several days in different areas of the country also affect Guaranda, province of Bolívar. This Thursday, March 17, an adobe (reed and mud) house was affected as a result of the winter season.
Lenin Sánchez, director of Planning for the Municipality of Guaranda, reported that the storm affects the canton quite a bit due to overflowing rivers, landslides and slope collapses, which caused damage to homes, and that in the Quindigua sector there were problems in the main conduction system for drinking water to the city.

He explained that there is a first report of ten damaged houses, the last of them on Thursday night in the sector of the road to San Simón. There was a collapse of part of the house due to the collapse of the slope where the infrastructure was located.
He added that the most affected are three houses to which material entered, where it was reached with the help of the Municipal Social Action and other institutions, but which is coordinated with municipal Public Works to, in some cases, support the reconstruction and , in others, execute the overthrow in order to channel the relocation.
Sánchez commented that some of the most affected homes are in rural areas such as Isinchi or San Juan de Llullundongo, which is why family members are welcomed by relatives, where they even feel safer.
He reported that the cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) decided, the previous Saturday, to declare Guaranda an emergency in order to channel resources to address the inconveniences caused by winter.

The official said that for now they are working on quantification and identification with a tour of technical personnel through the different sectors, especially where there are problems with slopes, because it is one of the main drawbacks.
After that, with Public Works a budget will be determined to be attended based on the emergency of the canton.
Sánchez mentioned that in the sectors where there were landslides, neither human nor animal or crop losses were recorded. (I)
