In Finland, Tampere-talo, the largest center for holding concerts and congresses, said that they currently do not have the opportunity to cooperate with major Russian stars and opera houses, but these measures do not apply to Russian performers who are not associated with the Russian authorities. This is reported by Yle with reference to the words of the director of the theater Paulina Ahokas.

Recall that the day before, the promotion company Live Nation celebrated the tour of the St Petersburg Festival Ballet in Finland. The reason for this decision was the situation in Ukraine. The tour was to start in Kuopio and end in the Tampere-talo centre.

According to Ahokas, the boycott of Russian artists is directed mainly against those organizations that sponsor the Russian authorities, as well as against artists associated with them. Moreover, she believes that the visits of individual Russian artists to Finland in times of crisis can contribute to positive changes in relation to the two countries. “We do not boo Russian ballet troupes or orchestras,” she stressed, adding that there is currently no single answer to the question about the attitude towards artists from Russia.

The director of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, Gita Kadambi, also supported her colleague, saying that, on a national basis, her institution was not going to boycott anyone. She promised that due to the situation around Ukraine there would be no changes in the program.

At the same time, the Secretary General of the International Ballet Competition in Helsinki, Emilia Rantalaiho, said that a decision on the participation of Russian and Belarusian dancers would be made next week. According to the artistic director of the event, Marco Ahtisaari, the festival will follow the policy of the European Union regarding the Russians. The competition will announce its summer program at the end of April.

Recall that at the end of February, the London Royal Theater “Covent Garden” canceled the tour of the Bolshoi Theater “because of the situation in the world.”
