Russian producers of vegetable oil and mayonnaise announced the suspension of the purchase of raw materials. This was announced by the head of the Oil and Fat Union of Russia Mikhail Maltsev, referred to by MK.
He attributed this to a lack of funds, including both commercial loans and foreign exchange earnings. According to Maltsev, the industry’s need for lending is estimated at 150 billion rubles.
In addition, Maltsev spoke about problems with the export of products and logistics. In particular, it is risky to send products to the Baltics by rail because of the possibility of confiscation of trains. A problem has also arisen with maritime transportation, as foreign ships are wary of entering Russian ports. The head of the Oil and Fat Union proposed to develop an insurance mechanism for railway workers and foreign ships.
Meanwhile, Russia is preparing to increase the export duty on sunflower oil from April 1, 2022 to $313 from $260.1 in March this year. According to the Russian government, this measure will help regulate export volumes and reorient market participants to the export of agricultural products with high added value.
