In José Mascote and Febres Cordero, south of Guayaquil, a driver was killed in broad daylight. The crime occurred at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the victim was on his way to his house.
Luis Ángel Castillo was shot several times while driving a gray car and was hit by armed individuals who riddled him.

Although paramedics arrived at the scene, Castillo no longer had vital signs and police were notified. Eight hours later, another case was also reported in the south of the city.
Two men who were in a lead vehicle in the Cristo del Consuelo sector were shot.
It happened at 11:00 p.m. and one of the victims was identified as Alejandro Bonilla, who died on the spot.
The other victim, a Marine on passive duty, died while being taken to a hospital. This is Antonio López Escalante, 41, who was declared without vital signs at the Cisne 2 health center.
The deceased do not have a criminal record, however, Antinarcotics agents arrived at the scene of the crime to investigate if the murder is related to drug trafficking.
