The King and Queen of Belgium will settle three families of refugees from Ukraine in the premises of their foundation

The King and Queen of Belgium, Philippe and Matilda, said they would accommodate three families of Ukrainian refugees in the premises belonging to the royal charitable foundation, the Belgian TV channel RTBF reports.

According to the channel, the refugees will be provided with two apartments owned by the fund. According to Jan Smets, the president of the fund, the apartments will be available for living from the beginning of April, before that they will be slightly renovated and furnished.

According to the latest data from the UN International Office for Migration, about 3 million people have left the country since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
