After 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, lawyer Jaime Cabezas, a social leader, recognized professional and candidate, for the Avanza movement, was assassinated for urban councilor for the 2023 elections.
Until recently, Cabezas was the director of Zonal Coordination 1 of the Mining Regulation and Control Agency (ARCOM). And for several weeks he was dedicated to politics, promoting his candidacy.
It would be the first case of contract killings in the north of the country, which is recorded in the center of the city of Ibarra, on Mejía and Zaldumbide streets, near the Olympic swimming pool.

The first information shows that two citizens shot at the renowned lawyer, when he was traveling in a light black vehicle.
They arrest a suspect in the disappearance of a Chinese citizen, whose body was found in a vacant lot in Imbabura
The two unidentified subjects fled the sector after committing the bloody act.
The criminals are now intensively sought by the National Police.
Citizens are concerned and dismayed by this event and by the climate of insecurity in the capital of the province of Imbabura. (I)
