Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO is not a concession to Russia, but “a reflection of reality,” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on CNN.

“I don’t think it’s a concession. I think this is, first of all, a reflection of reality,” Blinken emphasized, adding that even before the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation, Ukraine “was not going to join NATO the next day.”

We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that the country will not be able to become a member of NATO.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
