Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk expressed dissatisfaction with the volume of deliveries of defensive weapons from Germany, TASS reports citing Melnyk’s interview with newspapers of the Funke editorial group.

The diplomat expressed disappointment over “the absence of new commitments on defense weapons for Ukraine.” At the same time, he expressed the hope that “this process will accelerate and the Ukrainian armed forces will receive German defensive weapons to protect the civilian population as soon as possible.” Melnyk stressed that Ukraine needs “not individual steps, but a complete package of assistance.”

On February 26, the German government for the first time approved the supply of weapons to Ukraine. On March 14, the German authorities “in order to avoid risks” decided to classify information about the supply of weapons.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
