The International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and the Council for the Regulation, Development and Promotion of Information and Communication have launched the fifth edition of the Zoila Ugarte Scholarships. This year, 11 100% scholarships are offered to pursue master’s studies.
Those interested will be able to study in a 100% online methodology and specialize in the following degrees offered by UNIR: Transmedia Communication, Political Communication and Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communication and Corporate Identity, Creation of Audiovisual Scripts, Integrated Advertising, and Brand Management.
The call is addressed to workers who are part of the media or who belong to a communication department of public and private institutions. The objective of this initiative is to support the educational development of the country and especially of communicators who, according to official data, have problems completing their training.
“Accessing a scholarship or a master’s degree has its cost. We know the economic reality of fellow journalists from certain sectors, it is different in the country’s capital as it is in border areas or rural areas. Many want to access fourth level studies, but the lack of financial resources is an obstacle. For this reason, it is important to inform you that we have a cooperation agreement with the UNIR in order to grant 100% coverage of the scholarships.”, says Jeaninne Cruz, president of the Communication Council.
Since the launch of the Zoila Ugarte Scholarship Program in 2018 to date, more than 350 people have applied, more than 39 scholarships have been awarded, and this year 11 more scholarships will be awarded. This year’s call opened on March 7 and will be open until April 18. The requirements and the steps to follow are on the official site.
“The academy has to get involved in the development of the country, since the generation of public policies should not only be the responsibility of the Government. Journalists and communicators also have a role in this task and as an academy we must support the continuous training of communication workers.
