Next March 23 will be the third date defined for the evaluation and preparatory hearing of trial against the three suspects in the murder of Harrison Salcedo, lawyer who represented former Vice President Jorge Glas and the assassinated leader of the Los Choneros gang José Luis Zambrano, alias scratchy. Last November the two previous deferrals were given.
The processed Luis Ivan C., Dario Gabriel S., alias the Chineseand Elvis Fabian C. They will face a preparatory trial hearing nine months after the prosecutorial investigation began with the arrest and formulation of charges of taxi driver Luis Iván C., 46 years old.

Salcedo’s violent death occurred in the early hours of April 28, 2021, when he was traveling on board his truck on his way to his office. Occupants of a car fired shots at the vehicle causing the immediate death of the lawyer. At the wheel of the truck was Salcedo. The car crashed into a glass fence on República and 6 de Diciembre avenues, north of Quito.
Salcedo defended former president Glas in the cases of illicit association Odebrecht, the aggravated passive bribery in the 2012-2016 Bribery case, both with a firm sentence, and the so-called Singue case, which has a sentence for embezzlement in the first instance. He also represented aliases JL, murdered in December 2020 in a shopping center in Manta shortly after Salcedo had achieved his pre-release for having served part of his sentence.
Despite the fact that there were requests from the defendants for the hearing to take place electronically, the judge in charge of the case ordered that the diligence be carried out in person from 09:30 on March 23 in one of the rooms on the fourth floor of the North Judicial Complex, in the capital.
Hours after the November 11 hearing was deferred in Quito, in Manta (Manabí) the attack on Emilio B. was recorded, who was supposed to be a protected witness within the process for the murder of Salcedo. Apparently the person attacked was being investigated for an alleged illicit association in which the Prosecutor’s Office linked Salcedo and JL. (I)
