In negotiations with the Russian Federation, Ukraine seeks, first of all, security guarantees, Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of the office of the Ukrainian president, said on the air of the German TV channel ARD.
According to TASS, Zhovkva stressed that the Ukrainian authorities “want this situation to never happen again.” He also said that during the talks with the Russian delegation, considerations were expressed regarding “a possible peaceful solution, possible security guarantees for Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities.”
Also, a representative of Zelensky’s office noted that some of the requirements of the Russian Federation “are completely unacceptable, for example, those related to certain territorial claims.” At the same time, according to him, regarding other points, “discussions can be held,” but only taking into account “security guarantees for Ukraine in the future.”
Recall that the first three rounds of negotiations were held in Belarus, after which the discussion switched to video format. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called his meeting with Vladimir Putin the task of negotiations, at which “normal, effective” guarantees of the country’s security should be achieved. Turkey and Israel volunteered to help organize such talks.
