The heads of government of the “Lublin Triangle” (Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine) today signed a joint declaration following the results of negotiations, which recognizes the European choice of Kyiv. According to the text of the declaration published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Warsaw and Vilnius see Ukraine as part of the European Union.
“Poland and Lithuania recognize the European choice of Ukraine and see it as an EU member state in the near future,” the text says.
Warsaw and Vilnius insist that Ukraine should immediately receive the status of an EU candidate country and become an EU member under an accelerated procedure. The Lublin Triangle countries also condemned Russia’s actions and called on the international community to increase sanctions pressure.
Recall that at the end of February, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to the EU with a request for the immediate accession of Ukraine to the community. On March 1, the head of Zelensky’s office, Andriy Yermak, said that the application for Ukraine’s accession to the EU under the accelerated procedure was accepted, registered and under consideration.
