A total of 13 regions of the country increased their exports in January, which are they?

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that, in January of this year, 13 regions of the interior of Peru increased their shipments to the world, favored by the high prices of raw Materials. In this way, to date, exports from the regions reached US$ 2,783 million, where a significant set of export operations to be regularized still remains to be included.

The regions that increased their exports were Huánuco (+87%), Madre de Dios (+84%), Amazonas (+74%), Huancavelica (+51%), Lambayeque (+38%), Arequipa (+34%), Moquegua (+22%), Apurímac (+19%), Tumbes (+16%), San Martín (+16%), La Libertad (+15%), Piura (+13%) and Cajamarca (+7%).

In the first month of the year, Peruvian agricultural exports grew 21% compared to the same month in 2021. Thus, the strong growth in shipments of coffee in mountains (+359%) and jungle (+124%). In the coastal regions, sales of blueberries (+100%) and grapes (+9%) increased.

Southern exports (30% of the country’s exports) increased 10%, to reach US$ 1,192 million, thanks to higher prices for minerals. The regions that grew were Arequipa (+34%, due to shipments of copper), Moquegua (+22%, due to shipments of sulfuric acid, molybdenum, and copper) and Apurímac (+19%, due to shipments of copper and molybdenum). ).

In the jungle, three regions increased their export. These are Mother of God (+84%), Amazonas (+74%) and San Martin (+16%). In Madre de Dios, the sales of forest products, gold and nuts stand out; in Amazonas, sales of coffee and cocoa beans; and in San Martin, sales of coffee and palm oil.

In the north, five regions increased their exports, which include Lambayeque (+38%), due to avocado and blueberry shipments; Tumbes (+16%), due to shrimp shipments; La Libertad (+15%), due to shipments of blueberries; Piura (+13%), due to sales of phosphates and crude oil; and Cajamarca (+7%), due to coffee exports.

On the other hand, in the central zone, exports fell 43%, due to lower sales of iron, copper and gold. In January 2022, two regions increased their shipments: Huánuco (+87%), due to higher sales of cocoa beans, and Huancavelica (+51%), due to higher sales of minerals such as lead, silver and copper.
