Almost two weeks after the period established by the Civil Registry for the validity of expired or expired certificates, the entity issued a statement this Monday extending the term.

The General Directorate of the Civil Registry, through Resolution 022 signed on March 11, decided to extend the validity period until June 30, 2022. According to the entity, the measure is given to facilitate the completion of procedures and procedures.

It also specified that you can use the identity and marital status certificate, whose validity is the same as the identity card until June.

“The decision adopted so that the expired identity document is accepted and validated in all citizen procedures, including banking procedures, purchase and payment of services, obtaining credits, attention in establishments, will be officiated to public and private entities. of health, notarial procedures, purchase of tickets, among others”, it was indicated.

The cost of the certificate of identity and marital status is 5 dollars and has the same information as the identity card.

To renew the ID, it is necessary to obtain an online shift through the Civil Registry. The cost of the card for the first time is 5 dollars and the renewal costs 16 dollars. For people with disabilities of 30% or more it is free.

How to schedule an appointment and pay for service:

  • Once registered, log in to the portal www.registrocivil.gob.ec with your previously entered username and password.
  • Select the service to perform of identity card and click on Add.
  • Then choose the Province and agency where you will carry out the procedure. Then select the option of acceptance of terms and conditions and choose the option To accept.
  • Go to the shopping cart icon (at the top), review the order details and click Select payment method.
