In the early hours of this Sunday the 13th, the theft of the engine of a coast guard boat of the Ecuadorian Navy was reported.
That day, the naval launch disappeared from the beach of Puerto Chanduy, in the canton of Santa Elena, and was later found stranded on the beach of Chanduy, but not the outboard motor, which was stolen.
The case was known by agents of the National Police, who together with personnel from the affected entity carried out operations and collected information, without any result until last Sunday afternoon.
As it was known, at 03:00 the boat that was in front of the naval checkpoint in the town of Puerto Chanduy was seen for the last time, while at 06:00 it was no longer at the site.
The investigation continues to recover the engine.
Fishermen in the area regretted what happened and at the same time considered that marine support would be reduced in a situation such as robbery on the high seas by criminals. (I)
