Call for Fulbright Scholarships for postgraduates until April 19

The purpose of the Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship Program (Fulbright Foreign Student Program) is to foster mutual understanding and friendship between the United States and Ecuador through academic exchange.

The Fulbright Scholarship Program provides scholarships for master’s or doctoral studies in the United States to individuals who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership.

Any Ecuadorian can participate and it has been established that no applicant may be discriminated against because of race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, political affiliation, marital status or sexual orientation.

Requirements for the application

• Only people with an Ecuadorian citizenship card are eligible, even if they have dual nationality from any other country, except the United States.
• Not have previously resided in the US for more than nine months (or one academic year) in the last five years.
• Not have previously received another Fulbright scholarship that leads to a degree.
• Have a university degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, engineering or Bachelor’s degree, or a corresponding master’s degree related to the field of study of interest.
• Have an excellent academic background. Preference will be given to individuals with a cumulative grade point average of 8/10 or higher.
• For law, administration, and related areas, you must have three years of work experience after completing your third-level studies.
• Demonstrate the level of English required for your career. The accepted exams to apply for the Fulbright Scholarship are Toefl or Ielts.
• Achieve the required score on academic aptitude tests (GRE or GMAT) for admission to graduate degrees in the US.
• Have an interest in building lasting connections with the host culture.
• Once the studies are completed, they must return to Ecuador for two full calendar years.

Currently, the call is open until April 19, 2022. A form must be completed and after that, the online application.

For the application, a letter of recommendation, certified copy of all the academic titles obtained, original certificate of the grades of all the academic programs completed at a higher level, among other documents, must be included.

The Fulbright Commission of Ecuador will finance the selected candidates, with the support of North American universities, for a maximum of two years. The scholarship covers living expenses, books, round trip tickets and supplemental medical insurance for the scholarship recipient only. (I)
